Thibeault gets OT winner as Aigles Bleues top Huskies 4-3

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - In a game that went to overtime, Veronic Thibeault (Val d'Amour, N.B.) scored the decisive goal as the Moncton Aigles Bleues edged the Saint Mary's Huskies 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

Thibeault's power play goal, one of three on the day for Moncton, came at the 2:45 mark of OT, with the assist going to Katryne Villeneuve (Casselman, Ont.).

Thibeault's clutch marker earned her Subway player of the game honours.

Moncton tied the game at three with two goals in the third period by Natacha Bergeron (Berthierville, Que.) at 2:44 and Marika Lacroix (Orleans, Ont.) on the power play at 8:53.

The Huskies led 2-1 after the first period.

Mary Worndl (Kitchener, Ont.) opened the scoring 3:51 for the Huskies.

Kaitlyn Gallaway (Stratford, P.E.I.) answered for the Aigles Bleues on the power play at 14:12.

Saint Mary's Nicole Blanche (Dunville, Nfld.) tallied to give Saint Mary's the lead after 20 minutes. 

Laura Polak (Bedford, N.S.) notched the only goal of the second period at 12:58 to give the Huskies at 3-1 lead after the second period.

The shots were an even 28-28 for both teams. Moncton goaltender Gabrielle Forget (Joliette, Que.) made 25 saves to get the win. Rebecca Weagle (Lunenburg, N.S.) stopped 24 shots in goal for Saint Mary's.

The Huskies return to the ice on Friday, Nov. 14 in Fredericton against the St.Thomas Tommies at 7 p.m. The Aigles Bleues also play next on the 14 against the UPEI Panthers in Charlottetown.
