Aigles Bleues sweep quarterfinal series 2-0 with win in triple OT

(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) – Amelie Dion scored with 30 seconds left in triple overtime to give the Moncton Aigles Bleues a 2-1 win and a berth in the Subway AUS women's hockey semifinal where they will face the second-seeded Saint Mary's Huskies.

Both teams entertained the fans with exciting action for almost six periods, following up on a double overtime game in Moncton on Tuesday.

UPEI's Sam Sweet opened the scoring in the contest, assisted by Laura Bradley at 4:06 of the first period. 

Natacha Bergeron, assisted by Marie-Pier Arsen tied it up at 7:39 of the second frame and then the scoreless duel extend until 19:30 of the third overtime when Dion scored assisted by Felicia Anctil.

Both Panthers goalie Marie Soleil Deschenes and Moncton's Gabrielle Forget faced 44 shots apiece as they were called upon to keep their respective team alive in the close game.

The schedule for the Subway AUS women's hockey championship semifinal series will be released this weekend.
