Capers earn eight points to lead AUS basketball standings

The Cape Breton Capers swept the Memorial Sea-Hawks in back-to-back four point games, earning a massive eight points to lead the AUS women's basketball standings.

Cape Breton topped Memorial 86-83 on Saturday evening, being led by Hannah Brown and Monique Calliste. Brown had 27 points and 15 rebounds, while Calliste had 24 points and eight rebounds.

The Capers then topped the Sea-Hawks 91-90, holding off a late surge by the Sea-Hawks as Memorial outscored Cape Breton 26-22 in the final quarter. Brown led the Capers again, with 29 points and 17 rebounds for the double-double. The Capers remain undefeated on the season, with a 7-0 record and 18 points. 

The Dalhousie Tigers closed out the first half of the season with a 78-58 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in a Varsity Showdown at the Scotiabank Centre. Sophie Gaube led the Tigers with 24 points, shooting 6-12 from deep, as well as adding 5 rebounds to earn her the Subway Player of the Game title.  

The Acadia Axewomen defeated the StFX X-Women by a score of 94-76 on Saturday evening, to improve to 5-2 on the season, gathering four points in the win. Lanae Adams shot 4/6 from three over the game, totaled 19 points, handled eight rebounds, and added 2 assists to earn Subway Player of the Game honours. 

UPEI improved to 6-1 on the season on Saturday after topping the UNB Reds 76-63. Jenna Mae Ellsworth dropped 28 points and added three rebounds for the Panthers, earning Subway Player of the Game honours.
