AUS Women's Basketball Weekly Round Up: Week 12

Saint Mary's 57 vs. Memorial 53 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) The Memorial Sea-Hawks were defeated 57-53 by the Saint Mary's Huskies on Friday night in AUS women's basketball action from The Field House. Kennisha-Shanice Luberisse led Saint Mary's, posting 19 points and forcing 6 turnovers with her steals, earning herself Subway player-of-the-game commendations. Sydney Stewart led the Sea-Hawks with 13 points, adding four rebounds and two steals in the loss. StFX 68 vs. UPEI 72 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) The UPEI Panthers played to a 72-68 win over the StFX X-Women Friday night in the final weekend of AUS regular season play. Kiera Rigby led the Panthers with 22 points, adding eight rebounds, two assists and three steals. Subway Player of the Game, Carolina Del Santo, recorded a double-double in the win with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while teammates Ellsworth and Jane McLaughlin finished in double figures with 14 and 11, respectively. Jamie McCarron finished with 15 points for the X-Women and Kimberly Kingsbury, off the bench, had 11, along with six rebounds. Read more: Recap

Acadia 97 vs. Cape Breton 93 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(SYDNEY, N.S.) The top two ranked teams in the AUS met up to end the regular season, and both teams put on a show that concluded with the Acadia Axewomen overcoming a late Cape Breton University Capers surge to win 97-93. Paloma Anderson came in clutch for the first place Axe-Women, scoring a game-high 29 points, including 10 in the final quarter. Teammate Haley McDonald also had a great night, scoring 18 points, including 3-5 on three-pointers. Alison Keough led the Capers in points with with 27, an added six rebounds, while teammate Valentina Primossi put up 13 points and eight assists, and Sandra Amoah had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals in the loss. Read more: Recap

Dalhousie 56 vs. UNB 83 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The UNB Varsity Reds punched their ticket to next weekend's Subway Atlantic University Sport Women's Basketball Championship with an 83-56 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Friday. Nicole Esson scored 14 points to lead the Varsity Reds, while Hannah Currie added 12 and Emily MacLeod chipped in 11. Grace Simpson came off the UNB bench to score seven points and grab four rebounds to earn Subway Player of the Game honours. Chelsea Slawter-Wright scored a game-high 18 points for the Tigers, with teammate Robertha Charles adding 10 in the loss. Saint Mary's 62 vs. Memorial 77 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) The Memorial Sea-Hawks earned a weekend split with the Saint Mary's Huskies after a 77-62 victory on Saturday afternoon from The Field House. In her final home game, Lindsay Taylor had a solid performance, putting up 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and steals. Sydney Stewart put up 21 points, 8 rebounds, and no turnovers in the second game of the series for Memorial. For Saint Mary's, Kennisha-Shanice Luberisse put up 16 points and 4 rebounds in the loss. Dalhousie 43 vs. UPEI 59 (Box Score) (4-point game)

(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) The UPEI Panthers earned a 59-43 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday night. Subway Player of the Game, Carolina Del Santo, finished with a monster double-double with 14 points and 20 rebounds, while anchoring UPEI's defence in the middle. Sophie Gaube led the way for the Tigers with 10 points and Michele Tchiakoua pulled down 15 rebounds in the Tigers final game of the year. Read more: Recap

StFX 52 vs. UNB 83 (Box Score) (4-point game)

(FREDERICTON, N.B.) Playing in her final regular season home game, Nicole Esson said goodbye in style. The Fredericton-native scored 24 points to lead the UNB Varsity Reds in an 83-52 win over the St FX X-Women. Esson scored 17 of her 24 points in the first half, including shooting 5-for-7 from three-point range. She was named the Subway Player of the Game. Mikaela DodigGrace Wade and Eva Tumwine each scored 10 points in the win.
