Post Katelyn Mangold of the UNB Varsity Reds women's basketball team is the Wilsons Security Defensive Player of the Week.

A fifth-year law student from Peterborough, Ont., Mangold was named Subway Player of the Game following UNB's 51-47 win Saturday over the Dalhousie Tigers. The win marked the Varsity Reds' final regular season game of the fall semester.

Mangold was a force on defence for UNB, pulling down seven defensive rebounds, and posting four blocks and two steals. 

Her performance also included 10 points, two offensive rebounds and an assist. 

In seven regular season games played so far, Mangold leads the Atlantic conference and is second in the nation in blocks, averaging 2.7 per game. 

She also leads the UNB defence with 5.9 defensive rebounds per game.

The Varsity Reds will resume regular season play in the new year. They open on the road, facing the Cape Breton Capers Friday, Jan. 6, and the StFX X-Women Saturday, Jan. 7. Both games are set for 6 p.m.
