Forward Alison Keough of the Cape Breton Capers women's basketball team is the Wilsons Security Defensive Player of the Week.

A fourth-year business and science student from Marion Bridge, N.S., Keough led the Capers to two wins at home over the Acadia Axewomen this past weekend.

In Cape Breton's 79-58 win Friday, Keough earned Subway Player of the Game nods for her game-high 30 points and 12 rebounds. Her impressive defensive performance included a game-high eight defensive rebounds, a block and a steal. 

Saturday, the Capers edged the Axewomen in a close-fought 73-72 battle. Keough had a team-high 22 points and 12 rebounds in the win for her second double-double of the weekend. Her efforts on defence included nine defensive rebounds and a steal. 

In four regular season games played so far, Keough currently leads the Atlantic conference in points (25.0 per game), rebounds (9.8 per game) and defensive rebounds (6.75 per game). She also boasts the highest field goal percentage in the AUS (56.9%).

The Capers now look ahead to this coming weekend when they will travel to St. John's, N.L. to face the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
