(ST. JOHN'S, NFLD.) - It was Jordi Slaney's 80th minute goal that claimed the host Sea-Hawks their first victory of the weekend over the visiting Mounties at King George V Park on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Slaney (St. Lawrence, Nfld.) put Memorial on the board with 10 minutes left in the game, netting his first goal of the season after battling an injury that has kept him on the bench most of this year.

Slaney played for less than 10 minutes on Sunday for the first time in six games. After he rushed the net and gave the Sea-Hawks some insurance, he promptly left the field.

Mounties keeper Michael DeLong (St. John's, Nfld.) saved three out of four shots on goal by Memorial.

Midfielder Jacob Westcott was given the Subway player of the game honours for the winners.

Mount Allison fell to 3-7-1 on the season while Memorial improved to 4-6-1. The Sea-Hawks are tied with Dalhousie for sixth place, with two games left for each. The Mounties are next in the conference standings.

The Sea-Hawks will finish their season next weekend when they travel to play UPEI (3-2-6) on Saturday and Dalhousie (3-4-4) on Sunday.

Mount Allison plays next on Oct. 22 when they are hosted by the first ranked UNB Varsity Reds for a 7:15 p.m. game.
