Axemen and Tigers play to scoreless tie

(WOLFVILLE N.S.) -  Despite aggressive play by both teams, neither Acadia or the visiting Dalhousie Tigers found the back of the net resulting in a 0-0 tie Friday night in AUS men's soccer action.

The first half set the tone for an aggressive match-up, with both teams trying to be first to the ball, and a number of collisions resulted. Neither team was able to establish the control they wanted over the first half.

Acadia had the best opportunity in the opening half when a free kick from 30 yards out by second-year midfielder Corey Cadeau was sent rocketing into the net by a charging offence. However, the play was ruled offside and the score remained 0-0 at the half.

Throughout the second half both teams continued to fight to gain dominance but neither were able to penetrate the opposition's defence.

Acadia defender Andrew Snyder was the Subway player of the game for the Axemen after playing stellar defence, while Ryan Lewars earned the honour for the Tigers.

Jason Ross recorded the shutout for Dalhousie and saved seven shots on goal, recording his second shutout of the season. Acadia's Andrew MacRae made four saves.

The Tigers will travel home and host UPEI tomorrow afternoon, while Acadia will take on Cape Breton late Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the regular season.
