Reds open second half of men's hockey season with pair of wins

The UNB Reds remain undefeated as they opened the second half of the men's hockey season with a 3-1 victory over the Saint Mary's Huskies and a 4-3 win over the Acadia Axemen.

The Reds are now 17-0-3 on the season, putting them at the top of the standings with 37 points.

The Dalhousie Tigers hosted the UPEI Panthers in the first game of 2019, which saw the Tigers topping the Panthers 3-2 in a shootout. Aiden Jamieson earned himself the Subway Player of the Game honours by securing the Tigers victory with his shootout goal.

Despite falling to the Reds on Friday evening, the Huskies bounced back on Saturday, earning a huge 9-2 victory over the Panthers. Dylan DiPerna led the Huskies with two goals on the night, while Anthony Repaci had three assists in the win.

The Panthers took to the ice three times this weekend, hosting the Acadia Axemen in Charlottetown on Friday night. The home team walked away with a 2-1 win.

The Tigers also played three games to start up the second half of the season, topping the StFX X-Men 1-0 on Friday, then falling to the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus 3-0 on Saturday.
