Huskies remain undefeated with win over Tigers

The Dalhousie Tigers hosted the Saint Mary's Huskies in Friday night hockey action in another installment of the cross-town rivalry. An exciting second period allowed the Huskies to get on top to take a 4-2 victory.

After a scoreless first, the Tigers took the lead in the second, with a powerplay goal from Connor Welsh at the 11:13 mark. Just over a minute later, Saint Mary's Aaron Berisha tied things at 1-1, followed by a powerplay tally from teammate Dawson Theede to give the Huskies the go ahead goal heading into the third.

A goal from Dylan DiPerna half way through the third put the Huskies ahead by two. With just over 20 reconds remaining in regulation, Dalhousie's Chandler Yakimowicz put the Tigers within one, but it would not be enough as an empty-netter from Alexander Peters sealed the 4-2 win for Saint Mary's. Saint Mary's Theede earned Subway Player of the Game honours.

The Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus hosted the StFX X-Men on Friday night at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena, skating to a 3-2 victory.

The X-Men opened the scoring in the first with a short-handed tally from Adam Stevens at the 9:53 mark. Just over a minute into the second frame, Universite de Moncton's Marc-Anthony Therrie tied the game at 1-1, until a goal from StFX's Sam Studnicka at the 3:22 mark allowed the X-Men to keep their one goal lead. Just over three minutes later, Therrie scored his second goal of the game to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the third.

A power-play tally from Moncton's Victor Beaulac in the third put the Aigles Bleus ahead, as they held on for the 3-2 victory at home. With his two goals on the night, Therrie earned Subway Player of the Game honours.
