AUS Men's Hockey Weekly Round Up: Week 8

Wednesday, Nov. 22

Moncton 8 vs. UPEI 5 (Box Score)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) The UPEI Panthers hosted the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus in a high scoring affair Wednesday evening, that saw the Aigles Bleus earn the victory on the road. The Panthers held a 3-2 edge heading into the second, however three goals for Moncton in the middle frame allowed the Aigles Bleus to take a 5-3 lead into the final period. The Aigles Bleus extended their lead in the third, adding three more goals, compared to UPEI's two, to take the 8-5 win. Vincent Deslauriers led Moncton with the hattrick and one assist, while teammates Robbie Graham and Marc-Anthony Therrien added two goals and an assist each in the win.

StFX 4 vs. Saint Mary's 2 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The StFX X-Men picked up a 4-2 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in a Wednesday night heavyweight tilt between two U SPORTS Top 10 teams at the Halifax Forum. It was an even battle for the first 50 minutes before the X-Men pulled away with two-goals in the back half of the third. Read more: Recap

UPEI 1 vs. UNB 8 (Box Score)
(FREDERICTON, N.B.) On the night of their second annual teddy bear toss, the UNB Varsity Reds had a whale of a game, scoring six second period goals, on route to an 8-1 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers. Chris Clapperton led UNB with a pair of goals and an assist, and earned Subway Player of the Game honours. Read more: Recap
Acadia 1 vs. StFX 2 (Box Score)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The StFX X-Men topped the visiting Acadia Axemen 2-1 in their last home game of the fall term Friday night. The victory marked the fifth consecutive win for the X-Men, which saw Matt Needham potting the game winner in the third period. Subway player of the game, Chase Marchand, posted 27 saves in goal as he earned his league-leading 10th win of the season between the pipes. Read more: Recap 

Dalhousie 1 vs. Saint Mary's 3 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The Saint Mary's Huskies held on in the third to beat the Dalhousie Tigers 3-1 in the battle of Halifax at the Halifax Forum Friday night. Aaron Berisha was the difference maker for Saint Mary's, scoring two goals including the winner, while teammate Jake Coughler sealed it late with an empty-netter. Read more: Recap

UNB 5 vs. Moncton 3 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B.) In a back-and-forth affair, the UNB Varsity Reds scored a 5-3 win over the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus, in Moncton Saturday evening. Chris Clapperton scored twice, the game-winner and into an empty net, and added an assist in the victory. Read more: Recap

Acadia 3 vs. Dalhousie 1 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) In AUS men's hockey action at the Halifax Forum, the Acadia Axemen defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 3-1 in a game where quality chances were hard to come by. After a first period goal from Dalhousie's Mike Evelyn, three second period tallies from Acadia's Sam Fioretti (PP), Kyle Farrell, and Marc McNulty (SH) allowed the Axemen to walkaway with the victory.
