AUS Men's Hockey Weekly Round Up: Week 4

Wednesday, Oct. 25

Dalhousie 4 vs. Moncton 1 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B.) The Dalhousie Tigers scored three unanswered goals Wednesday night, to defeat the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus 4-1 at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena. Moncton's Marc-Anthony Therrie opened the scoring early in the first frame, with a powerplay goal just over a minute into regulation. A powerplay goal from Dalhousie's Tanner Williams in the second frame tied the game at 1-1. Three goals within two minutes in the third period from Ryan Verbeek, Colton Heffley, and Andrew Shewfelt delivered the blow, allowing the Tigers to walk away with the victory.

 

Friday, Oct. 27

Acadia 2 vs. UNB 7 (Box Score)
(FREDERICTON, N.B.) One week after suffering a 3-2 overtime loss in Wolfville, the UNB Varsity Reds overwhelmed the Acadia Axemen 7-2 on home ice. Freshman forward Kris Bennett (Brampton, ON) scored twice and added three assists to the lead the Varsity Reds. Read more: Recap

Moncton 2 vs. StFX 4 (Box Score)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The StFX X-Men defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleus 4-2 in a tight encounter at the Charles V. Keating Centre Friday night to remain undefeated in regular season play. Read more: Recap

Saint Mary's 4 vs. UPEI 3 (OT) (Box Score)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) Anthony Repaci delivered the knockout punch Friday night, as the Saint Mary's Huskies scored three unanswered goals in a thrilling 4-3 overtime win. Read more: Recap

 

Saturday, Oct. 28

Acadia 7 vs. UPEI 5 (Box Score)
(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The UPEI Panthers took on the Acadia Axemen in what turned out to be a high scoring affair Saturday night. An early tally from Acadia's Sam Fioretti and a powerplay goal late in the first from UPEI's Gabe Geurtler held the score at 1-1 heading into the second period. The second featured four powerplay goals, and seven goals in total, with the Axemen holding a 5-4 edge heading into the final frame. Goals in the second came from Acadia's Kyle Farrell (2), Rodney Southam, and Boston Leier, and UPEI's Darcy Ashley, Kameron Kielly, and Filip Rydstrom. A power play goal just 46 seconds into the third period tied things up at 5-5, until goals from Axemen forwards Owen MacDonald and Sam Fioretti allowed Acadia to skate away with a 7-5 victory.

Saint Mary's 1 vs. UNB (Box Score)

StFX 5 vs. Dalhousie 1 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) In Saturday night AUS men's hockey action, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the undefeated StFX X-Men at the Civic Arena in Halifax. Special teams were the story of the game for StFX, as they were able to capitalize on three power play opportunities, and came away with a 5-1 victory. Read more: Recap
