Wednesday, January 27

Saint Mary's 5 at Dalhousie 4 (Box Score)

The Dalhousie Tigers hosted the Saint Mary's Huskies on Wednesday night at the Halifax Forum for Bell Let's Talk Day. The Huskies were the first on the board with a power-play goal at the 04:27 mark of the first period from fifth-year defenceman Michael D'Orazio. The Huskies extended their lead with a tally from sophomore forward Ben Duffy at 11:01 into the first, to hold a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. At 09:15 in the second, Dalhousie fourth-year forward Andrew Wigginton put the Tigers on the board with an unassisted goal, cutting the Huskies lead to one. Just 13 seconds later, a goal from Huskies fifth-year forward Matt Tipoff allowed Saint Mary's to regain their two goal lead. A goal from Tigers sophomore forward Tanner Williams at 12:36, followed by a tally from teammate Phil Gadoury just three minutes later allowed the Tigers to tie the game at 3-3 with under five minutes remaining in the second frame. At the 18:43 mark of the second, Saint Mary's third-year defenceman Alex Cord put the Huskies back on top to hold a 4-3 lead heading into the final 20 minutes of regulation. In the third, a power-play goal from Dalhousie's Andrew Wigginton and his second of the game tied it up at 4-4. Just over a minute later, a tally from Huskies fifth-year defenceman Jamie Doornbosch gave Saint Mary's the 5-4 edge, as they would hold on to earn the victory over the Tigers.

StFX 2 at Acadia 3 (Box Score)

The Acadia Axemen hosted the StFX X-Men in Wolfville on Wednesday night to celebrate Bell Let's Talk Day. The X-Men opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from sophomore forward Kristoff Kontos at the 11:43 mark. Just two minutes later, a goal from Axemen sophomore forward Boston Leier tied the game at 1-1. After a scoreless second period, the Axemen pulled ahead of the X-Men with a power-play tally from sophomore forward Sam Fioretti just over a minute into the final frame. A short-handed goal from StFX fourth-year Brad Cuzner tied the game at 2-2 with eight minutes remaining in regulation. At the 16:58 mark in the third, a goal from Acadia's Sam Fioretti and his second of the game allowed the Axemen to pull ahead, and hold on for the 3-2 victory over the X-Men.

Moncton 4 at UPEI 2 (Box Score)

In more AUS men's hockey Bell Let's Talk day action, the Moncton Aigles Bleus travelled to Charlottetown on Wednesday to face the UPEI Panthers. The Aigles Bleus were the first on the board with the lone goal of the opening frame from third-year forward Alex Saulnier. Just eight seconds into the second, the Panthers tied it up at 1-1 with a goal from sophomore forward Brent Andrews, heading into the third period with a tie game. With just under five minutes remaining in regulation, a short-handed goal from Moncton third-year forward  Allain Saulnier put the Aigles Bleus ahead by one. At the 16:31 mark, Moncton fourth-year forward Alex Noel gave the Aigles Bleus a 3-1 lead, until UPEI's Nelson Armstrong put the Panthers back within one with just over a minute remaining. With 30 seconds remaining in the frame, an empty-net goal from Moncton's Allain Saulnier and his second of the game put the Aigles Bleus ahead by two, as they held on to earn the 4-2 victory on the road.

St. Thomas 2 at UNB 8 (Box Score)

The UNB Varsity Reds hosted the St. Thomas Tommies on Wednesday night for Bell Let's Talk Day. The Varsity Reds came out flying in the first period, scoring four goals in 12 minutes, to hold a 4-0 lead heading into the second frame. UNB goals in the first period came from fifth-year forward Taylor MacDougall, third-year defenceman Matt Petgrave, fourth-year forward Cam Braes (PP) and third-year forward Philippe Maillet. The Tommies got on the board early in the second, with a tally from sophomore defenceman Eric Diodati just 17 seconds into the period. A short-handed goal from UNB sophomore forward Peter Trainor put the Varsity Reds back ahead by four, until a power-play goal just 20 seconds later from Tommies sophomore forward Bryce Milson put St. Thomas within three. At the 9:03 mark of the second, UNB's Cam Braes scored his second of the game, followed by a power-play tally from teammate Philippe Maillet to take a 7-2 lead. Just 30 seconds later, a goal from UNB's Chrisopher Clappert put the Varsity Reds, as they held on for the 8-2 victory at home.

Friday, January 29

StFX 1 at Dalhousie 4 (Box Score)

The StFX X-Men travelled to Halifax on Friday evening to take on the Dalhousie Tigers at the Scotiabank Centre. The X-Men opened the scoring with a power-play goal from freshman forward Holden Cook at 11:34 into the opening frame to take a one goal lead heading into the second. In the second period, the Tigers got on the board with a tally from sophomore forward JP Harvey at 08:35 to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the final 20 minutes of regulation. The Tigers took the lead early into the third with a goal from sophomore forward Mike Evelyn, followed by a tally from teammate Andrew Wigginton to take a 3-1 lead. With just 10 seconds remaining in regulation, an empty-net goal from Dalhousie's Jackson Playfair put the Tigers ahead by three, as they held on to earn the 4-1 victory.

St. Thomas 2 at Moncton 6 (Box Score)

The Moncton Aigles Bleus hosted the St. Thomas Tommies on Friday night. The Aigles Bleus were the first on the board with a goal from Pier-Antoine Dion at 06:35 to take the one goal lead. At the 12:46 mark, the Tommies tied it up with a goal from sophomore forward Matt MacLeod, but was followed by a tally from Moncton's Allain Saulnier to keep the Aigles Bleus ahead by one heading into the second. The Aigles Bleus extended their lead in the second with goals from Joel Blanchard and Alex Emond (PP), to hold a 4-1 edge heading into the final frame. A goal from St. Thomas freshman forward Matthew Wright at 06:15 into the third put the Tommies within two, until a goal from Moncton's Steve Lebel kept the Aigles Bleus ahead by three. With just one second remaining in regulation, a power-play goal from Moncton's Robbie Graham allowed the Aigles Bleus to earn the 6-2 victory at home. 

 

UPEI 1 at UNB 2 (Box Score)

The UPEI Panthers travelled to Fredericton to face the UNB Varsity Reds on Friday. After a scoreless first period, the Varsity Reds were the first on the board with a goal just over a minute into the second period from fourth-year forward Cam Braes. At the 17:03 mark of the second, a short-handed tally from UNB fifth-year forward Tyler Carroll gave the Varsity Reds the 2-0 edge heading into the third. A power-play goal from UPEI's Ryan MacKinnon at 04:39 in the third put the Panthers within one, but it was not enough as the Varsity Reds held on for the 2-1 victory at home.

Acadia 3 at Saint Mary's 4 (Box Score)

The Saint Mary's Huskies hosted the Acadia Axemen at the Halifax Forum on Friday night. The Axemen were the first on the board with a tally from forward Brett Thompson at 08:32 into the opening frame. Just five minutes later, a power-play goal from Saint Mary's fourth-year defenceman Kyle Pereira, followed by another power-play goal from teammate Matt Tipoff gave the Huskies the 2-1 edge heading into the second period. The second period saw three power-play goals, with Saint Mary's fifth-year forward Gerrad Grant kicking things off at 02:04 to give the Huskies the 3-1 lead. At 09:32, a power-play tally from Acadia forward Mike Cazzola put the Axemen within one, until a power-play goal from Huskies fifth-year forward Matt Tipoff kept Saint Mary's ahead by two heading into the final frame. With just a minute remaining in regulation, a power-play goal from Acadia's Boston Leier put the Axemen within one, but it would not be enough as the Huskies held on for the 4-3 win at home.

Saturday, January 30 

UNB 4 at Moncton 3 (Box Score)

The Moncton Aigles Bleus hosted the UNB Varsity Reds on Saturday evening. The Aigles Bleus got on the board early in the first with a goal from sophomore forward Jean-Francois Plante just over a minute into the period, holding a 1-0 lead heading into the middle frame. In the second, the Varsity Reds tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal from freshman forward Christopher Clapperton at 08:48. At the 11:05 mark of the second, Moncton regained their lead with a short-handed tally from Jean-Francois Plante, scoring his second of the game. Just two minutes later, Christopher Clapperton's second goal of the game allowed the Varsity Reds to tie it back at 2-2. Just over two minutes into the final frame, a goal from Moncton fourth-year forward Alex Emond put the Aigles Bleus back on top, until a tally from UNB fourth-year forward Cam Braes at 12:30 tied the game at 3-3. With four minutes remaining in regulation, a goal from UNB forward Rob Mignardi allowed the Varsity Reds to take their first lead of the game, and to hold on for the 4-3 victory on the road. 

 

UPEI 6 at St. Thomas 3 (Box Score)

The UPEI Panthers travelled to Fredericton on Saturday night to take on the St. Thomas Tommies. The Tommies opened the scoring in the first with a goal from sophomore forward Andrew Fritsch, followed by a power-play tally from Panthers fifth-year forward Cole MacMillan, tying the game at 1-1 heading into the middle frame. The Panthers took the lead at 08:06 in the second with a tally from freshman forward Sam Aulie, until a power-play tally from Tommies sophomore forward Bryce Milson tied the game at 2-2. At the 16:52 mark of the second, a power-play goal from Panthers sophomore forward Marcus Power, followed by a tally from teammate Brock Beukeboom gave the Panthers the 4-2 edge heading into the third. In the final frame, a goal from Panthers Marcus Power, and his second of the game put UPEI ahead by three. A power-play goal from Tommies sophomore forward JC Campagna at the 14:23 mark put St. Thomas within two, but it would not be enough as UPEI fourth-year forward Mason Wilgosh sunk the empty-netter with 40 seconds remaining in regulation to lead the Panthers to the 6-3 victory.

Saint Mary's 4 at StFX 2 (Box Score)

The Saint Mary's Huskies travelled to Antigonish to take on the StFX X-Men on Saturday night. The X-Men were the first on the board with a short-handed goal from freshman forward Mark Tremaine at the 08:58 mark of the first. With just over two minutes remaining in the opening frame, a power-play goal from Saint Mary's freshman forward Calder Brooks tied the game at 1-1 heading into the second. A goal from Saint Mary's fifth-year forward Matt Tipoff at 04:48 into the second, followed by a tally from teammate Taylor Burke under a minute later gave the Huskies a two goal lead heading into the final period. With under 30 seconds remaining in regulation, a goal from StFX freshman forward Michael Clarke put the X-Men within one. The Huskies responded just 12 seconds later with an empty-net goal from forward Stephen MacAulay to hold on for the 4-2 victory on the road.
