(OTTAWA, Ont.) - Kruise Reddick, a fifth-year centre from the University of Alberta, has been named captain of the CIS men's hockey all-stars for this weekend's exhibition series against Canada's National Junior Team prospects.
Reddick's alternate captains in Toronto will be forwards Colin Behenna of Waterloo, Olivier Hinse of Concordia and Stephen MacAulay of Saint Mary's, all of whom currently lead their CIS team in scoring. Hinse has been the Stingers' captain for two years, while Behenna and MacAulay wear the "A" with the Warriors and Huskies, respectively.
The two-game set takes place at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST and Sunday at noon as part of the National Junior Team's preparation for the 40th IIHF World Junior Championship in Finland (Dec. 26 - Jan. 5).
Tickets are available at the door 90 minutes before puck drop at a cost of $15. Both contests will also be streamed live at CIS-SIC.tv.
The 23-player CIS lineup - including 20 with CHL experience - is comprised of 11 standouts from the OUA conference and six apiece from the AUS and Canada West leagues.
Reddick, who hails from Manor, Sask., is no stranger to wearing the "C" on his jersey. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound physical education and recreation student has captained the Golden Bears for the past two seasons and had also earned the honour with Team Canada at the 2015 Winter Universiade in Spain and with Tri-City in his WHL days.
"I am extremely honoured to be named captain of this team that will represent CIS," said Reddick, the MVP of last March's University Cup national championship who has 18 points in 16 conference games so far this season. "I feel very fortunate to be chosen for this team and to play with some of the best players throughout Canada. I look forward to the opportunity to lead this group against the world juniors."
