Tommies flatten Tigers 6-2

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The St. Thomas Tommies came away with a 6-2 victory over the Tigers in Saturday night's game at the Halifax Forum.

This brings the Tommies to two wins this season, both of which have been over the Tigers. The Tigers had a total of 37 power play minutes but were only able to slip two goals past Phillippe Trudeau in that time. The Tommies' Zach Hall and Matt MacLeod lead in scoring with two goals each.

JC Campagna set up an early lead for the Tommies scoring just one minute into the first period.

The Tigers quickly requited on a power play with a goal at the five minute mark from Andrew Wigginton to even the score to 1-1.

The rest of the period continued to bring chances for the Tigers with 19 penalty minutes given to the Tommies, but they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

The Tommies came out firing in the second period putting three consecutive goals away by the 7:32 mark. Felix Poulin and MacLeod notched the first two during full strength play and Hall scored the third on a power play.

The Tigers managed to contest by putting one more away before the end of the period, leaving them to enter the third with a score of 4-2 in favour of the Tommies.

The Tommies found the back of the net two more times in the final period strengthening their lead to 6-2 and left little hope for the comeback from the Tigers. Goals were scored once again by MacLeod and Hall.

The period ended with more unanswered power play opportunities for the Tigers and a 6-2 final score and victory for the St. Thomas Tommies.

The Tigers face the StFX X-Men in an away game on Wednesday; while the Tommies will look to collect another win as they face the Saint Mary's Huskies on Friday.
