Aigles Bleus win fourth straight with 4-0 victory over Panthers

(MONCTON, N.B.) - Subway player of the game and Aigles Bleus rookie Jean-François Plante scored twice and added an assist as he led the Université de Moncton men's hockey team to a 4-0 win over the UPEI Panthers Wednesday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in front of 800 spectators.

Alex Noël and Maxime Pilon had the other Moncton goals. The Aigles led 2-0 after one period and 4-0 after 40 minutes. Steve Lebel collected two assists. Moncton had 36 shots against UPEI goaltender, Mavric Clark.

Goaltender Adrien Lemay pushed back 27 shots to register his first ever university career shutout. "I was close a few games, but this is my first," Lemay said. He is in his third year with the Aigles Bleus.

"I am very happy to have scored twice tonight," said Plante said after the game. "I went through difficult moments at the beginning, but things were much better this evening."

Coach Serge Bourgeois was happy with the big win. "We played more disciplined this evening and we can win games when we play five on five," he said.

The Aigles Bleus will play two road game this weekend in Halifax against the Saint Mary's Huskies on Friday and in Wolfville, Saturday, against the AUS defending champion Acadia Axemen. Puck drop in both games is set for 7 p.m.

The Panthers head home to host two weekend games. They will face the Dalhousie Tigers Friday at 7p.m. and the StFX X-Men Saturday at 3 p.m.
