Huskies, Tigers, and Panthers open AUS season with weekend sweeps

On opening weekend of the AUS men's basketball season, the Saint Mary's Huskies, Dalhousie Tigers, and UPEI Panthers all finished the weekend with sweeps.

The Huskies opened the season on Thursday night, hosting the Acadia Axemen and playing to a close 89-85 victory. Saint Mary's then hosted Acadia once again on Saturday night, earning a 94-81 win.

The Tigers opened their season with back-to-back wins over the Cape Breton Capers, earning a 85-65 win on Saturday, and a 89-76 victory on Sunday afternoon.

UPEI opened their season hosting the Memorial Sea-Hawks, where they won back-to-back games, 94-82 on Saturday and 77-65 on Sunday.

The reigning AUS men's basketball champions, the UNB Reds, opened their season with a split, topping the StFX X-Men 101-95 on Friday, but falling 99-92 in overtime in Antigonish on Saturday.
