AUS Men's Basketball Weekly Round Up: Week 9

Thursday, Feb. 1

Saint Mary's 82 vs. Acadia 79 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) Kemar Alleyne led the Huskies in an 82-79 edging of the hometown Acadia Axemen with 22 points and eight rebounds. Alleyne posted 17 second-half points and grabbed the honours as the Subway Player of the Game in the 4-point win. Acadia's senior center Erik Nissen led all scorers with 31 points and nine rebounds. Ben Miller led the Axemen in rebounding with 10 and netted 13 points in the loss. Read more: Recap

Dalhousie 97 vs. Cape Breton 63 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(SYDNEY, N.S.) The Cape Breton University Capers had a tough night on both sides of the ball, losing to the Dalhousie Tigers by a final score of 97-63. Sven Stammberge had 20 points for the visiting Tigers, and also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Cape Breton's Indiana Rotondo matched Stammberger with 20 points of his own, scoring 18 of his 20 points from behind the arc. Read more: Recap

UNB 86 vs. StFX 84 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The UNB Varsity Reds defeated the StFX X-Men in a close 86-84 game that went down to the final second Saturday night on Coach K Court at the StFX Oland Centre. The win was worth four points in the AUS standings for the Varsity Reds who took over sole possession of second place. The Subway Player of the Game, Javon Masters, closed the night with 27 points, eight rebounds and dished seven assists, while Julius Antoine scored a game-high 28 points for StFX and had five rebounds and seven assists. Memorial 61 vs. UPEI 71 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) The UPEI Panthers hosted the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday night, earning a 71-61 victory on home court. D'Adrien Allen finished the night with 17 points for the hometown Panthers, adding 10 rebounds, while Memorial was led by Davion Parnsalu who posted a game-high 19 points in the loss, adding eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Memorial 92 vs. UPEI 79 (Box Score) (4-point game)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) Veterans Davion Parnsalu and Daniel Gordon weren't going to let their team leave the Island without a win. The Memorial guards combined to score 52 points as they took care of the UPEI Panthers 92-79 in the Sunday matinee. The win was huge for the Sea-Hawks, who now have a 10-point advantage over UPEI for the final playoff spot. Gordon finished the night with a game-high 31 points, adding six rebounds and one steal in the win, with Parnsalu posting 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
