AUS Men's Basketball Weekly Round Up: Week 3

Dalhousie 67 vs. Acadia 70 (Box Score)
(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) In their first meeting since last year's epic battle in the AUS semi-finals, the hometown Acadia Axemen edged past the U SPORTS No. 5 ranked Dalhousie Tigers, handing them their first loss of the regular season. Ben Miller put up 13 points for the Axemen in the close 70-67 victory, while Erik Nissen added a game-high 13 rebounds for Acadia. Sven Stammberger led the Tigers with a game-high 20 points, and added eight rebounds. Read more: Recap

UNB 83 vs. Saint Mary's 72 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The visiting UNB Varsity Reds handed the Saint Mary's Huskies a 83-72 loss in the lone game of AUS men's basketball action Friday night. Javon Masters scored a game-high 37 points in UNB's victory, to officially become the all-time AUS career scoring leader. Masters also added six rebounds and six assists. Nikita Kasongo led the Huskies with 20 points, adding three rebounds and four assists in the loss.


Saturday, Nov. 18

UNB 93 vs. Saint Mary's 92 (OT) (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The UNB Varsity Reds earned their second victory of the weekend against the Saint Mary's Huskies, as they topped the Huskies in an incredibly close 93-92 overtime victory. Javon Masters led UNB and all scorers with 35 points and pulled in 10 rebounds for the win. Saint Mary's was led by Nikita Kasongo who posted 23 points, while teammate Osman Barrie added a game-high 14 rebounds. Read more: Recap

StFX 103 vs. Memorial 96 (Box Score)
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) The StFX X-Men picked up their first win of the AUS season with a high-scoring 103-96 victory over the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday evening. Subway Player of the Game Julius Antoine led the X-Men in points with 27, while Memorial's Daniel Gordon had a game-high 30 points in the loss. Read more: Recap

UPEI 54 vs. Cape Breton 107 (Box Score)
(SYDNEY, N.S.) The Cape Breton University Capers came out of the gates flying Saturday night, to defeat the UPEI Panthers for the team's first win of the season. Leading the way for the home squad was Osman Omar who shot 7/10 in the first quarter, and finished the evening with a game-high 29 points. As for the Panthers, Dakelle Brooks as the leading point scorer with 11 points. Read more: Recap

Acadia 79 vs. Dalhousie 72 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) In the back end of a home-and-home, the Dalhousie Tigers squared off against the Acadia Axemen at the Dalplex. Acadia gained a slight edge early, and finished quarters strong as they held on to a 79-72 victory to sweep the two-game series. Erik Nissen led the Axemen with 21 points, adding eight rebounds and six assists, while Dalhousie's Alex Carson posted a game-high 30 points in the loss. Read more: Recap

StFX 76 vs. Memorial 80 (Box Score)
(ST. JOHN'S, N.L.) After a tough start to the season, the Memorial Sea-Hawks notched their first win against the StFX X-Men 80-76 in a great competition. Julius Antoine poured in 21 points, and 5 rebounds for the X-Men, while Nathan Barker led the Sea-Hawks with a game-high 30 points, to earn Subway Player-of-the-Game commendations. UPEI 54 vs. Cape Breton 90 (Box Score)
(SYDNEY, N.S.) The Cape Breton Capers swept their weekend matchup vs the UPEI Panthers, winning the second game by a score of 90-78. The Capers were led by Martin Campbell, who scored 22 points and dished 8 assists in the win. For the Panthers, Dakelle Brooks and Moshe Wadley both had 17 points. Read more: Recap
