But the fourth-year arts student from Kitchener, Ont., is also a force on defence for the Varsity Reds. He currently leads the Atlantic conference in steals, averaging 3.0 per game so far this season.

This past week, Masters contributed four steals and three defensive rebounds in UNB's 115-75 win over the Cape Breton Capers on Friday. He also managed a double-double, scoring 22 points and adding 11 assists.

Despite ultimately falling 85-66 to the StFX X-Men Saturday, Masters defensive statistics included six defensive rebounds, three steals and a block.

The Varsity Reds will now look ahead to this weekend when they host the 7-3 and second-place Memorial Sea-Hawks in two games Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
