Forward Vasilije Curcic of the Memorial Sea-Hawks men's basketball team is the Wilsons Security Defensive Player of the Week.
A fifth-year business administration student from Kragujevac, Serbia, Curcic returned from an injury to play in the last two regular season games of fall semester this past weekend.
The Sea-Hawks topped the UPEI Panthers 85-82 in Charlottetown on Saturday. Curcic had 28 points in the win and was also a force on defence, pulling down seven defensive rebounds.
He followed that up with an impressive defensive effort Sunday despite Memorial falling 79-65 to the Panthers. Curcic's stats included 14 defensive rebounds and two blocks.
In five regular season games played, he is averaging 8.2 defensive rebounds per game.
At the end of fall semester play, the Sea-Hawks currently sit in first place in the AUS standings with a 6-2 record.
They return to regular season play in January when they host the Saint Mary's Huskies Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.
