Guard Ritchie Kanza Mata of the Dalhousie Tigers men's basketball team is the Wilsons Security Defensive Player of the Week.
A fifth-year arts student from Toronto, Kanza Mata leads the Atlantic conference in steals per game so far this season, averaging 3.0. He has also averaged 3.6 defensive rebounds per game.
Kanza Mata has helped lead the Tigers to a 4-1 record so far this regular season. In addition to his defensive prowess, the six-foot-one guard has averaged 10.8 points and 3.2 assists per game for Dalhousie in five regular season games played.
The Tigers next see action Thursday night at 8 p.m. when they travel to Acadia to face off against the Axemen in Wolfville, N.S.
They will then travel to UNB to face off against the Varsity Reds Saturday at 8 p.m. in Fredericton, N.B.
