(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) – The UPEI Panthers improved to 5-0 at home and won their fourth straight game by defeating the Memorial Sea-Hawks at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre in front of 360 fans Saturday night.

The first quarter was packed with offence as both teams came out firing. After one quarter both teams were on pace to hit triple digits, with UPEI holding a slight edge, 29-27.

The two squads slowed down in the second quarter, each scoring only 16 points keeping the Panthers ahead by two, 45-43, at halftime.

Memorial's, Caleb Gould (Aurora, Ont.) led all scorers with 12 points, adding four rebounds. Milorad Sedlarevic (Vesenice, Slovenia) led the way for the Panthers with 10 points.

UPEI game out of halftime looking to make a statement on their home floor and they did just that. The Panthers held Memorial to only two field goals, while forcing six turnovers in the third quarter. This translated into instant offence as UPEI's lead ballooned from two to 23, 73-50.

The Panthers' lead would grow to 26 at one point in the final quarter but Memorial showed heart, cutting the lead to 15.

Unfortunately for the Sea-Hawks, that is as close as they would get as UPEI pushed the lead to 22 before the final whistle, winning 90-72. The Sea-Hawks were led by Caleb Gould who was a force in the low post, scoring a game-high 24 points and Noel Moffatt who added 14 points and hauled down 15 rebounds.

UPEI's Tyler Scott (Halifax, N.S.) came alive in the second half, leading his team with 21 points, adding five rebounds and four steals. Rookie forward Milorad Sedlarevic had his best game as a Panther, notching 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

UPEI's Tyler Scott was named the Subway player of the game.
