STFX quarterback Silas Fagnan is the AUS offensive player of the week for the week ending October 30, 2022. 

Fagnan, a fourth-year arts student from Bonnyville, Alberta, was 21-for-29 in passing for 303 total yards in the X-Men’s 37-13 win over Mount Allison on Saturday. Fagnan threw two touchdown passes from 33 and 63 yards out and scored a two-yard touchdown rush himself. He also had eight rushes in the game for 60 yards. With Saturday’s win, the X-Men finish the regular season with an 8-0 record and a bye to the AUS championship final.

Fagnan led the AUS conference in passing this season, averaging 241.6 yards per game (138 for 233, 1933 total yards). He and the X-Men will host the 2022 Subway AUS Loney Bowl on Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m.

Name: Owen O’Neal
University: Mount Allison University

Mount Allison Mounties defensive back Owen O’Neal is the AUS defensive player of the week for the week ending October 30, 2022.

A third-year arts student from Sackville, New Brunswick, O’Neal led the Mounties’ defence in their final regular season game, a 13-37 loss to the STFX X-Men. He had nine tackles—one for a loss—and two interceptions, for a total of 43 interception return yards in the game. O’Neal finishes the regular season with the second-most tackles in the AUS at 45.0.

The third-place Mounties will now head to Lennoxville to face the Bishop’s Gaiters in the AUS semi-final on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m.

Name: Noah Laursen
University: Bishop’s University
Position: Kicker
Hometown: Calgary, Alberta
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Business
Height and weight: 5’10”, 172lbs 

Bishop's University's Noah Laursen is the AUS Special Teams player of the week for the week ending October 30, 2022.

Laursen, a business student from Calgary, Alberta, went one-for-two on field goals—with his make coming from 30 yards out—in a 25-17 win for the Gaiters on Saturday. He was a perfect three-for-three on extra points while averaging 31.3 yards on his eight punts. 

With their win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies, Laursen and the Gaiters set themselves up for the AUS semi-final, where they will take on the Mount Allison Mounties at home. The Gaiters and Mounties kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 5 on Coulter Field.
