Week 7 AUS Football Players of the Week: Socholotiuk, Greene and Burnham honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) StFX X-Men running back Jordan Socholotiuk and kicker Keiran Burnham, along with Saint Mary's defensive back Adrian Greene, have been selected as the Week 7 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Jordan Socholotiuk
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Running Back
Hometown:  Waterford, Ont.
Year of eligibility:  Fifth
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 5'9", 196 lbs

StFX X-Men running back Jordan Socholotiuk is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 7, 2018.

An arts student in his fifth year of eligibility from Waterford, Ont., Socholotiuk led all rushers in Friday's 33-30 win over Acadia with 166 total yards on 25 carries, averaging 6.6 yards per carry.

He scored the first touchdown of the game for the X-Men on a five-yard rush early in the first quarter and added one reception for five yards.

Socholotiuk currently leads the AUS and is second in the country in rushing, averaging 129.5 yards per game with 777 total yards on the season.

Name: Adrian Greene
University: Saint Mary's University
Position: Defensive back

Year of eligibility: Second
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 6'0, 175 lbs 

Saint Mary's Huskies defensive back Adrian Greene is the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A second-year arts student from Toronto, Greene opened the scoring in Saint Mary's 18-9 win over the Bishop's Gaiters Saturday in Halifax. He had a fumble recovery which he returned 65 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to put the Huskies up 7-0.

Greene also had two solo tackles on defence for Saint Mary's.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Name: Keiran Burnham
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Kicker/Punter
Hometown: Cambridge, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 6'2", 185 lbs

St. Francis Xavier punter and kicker Keiran Burnham is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Oct. 7, 2018.

A third-year arts student from Cambridge, Ont., Burnham kicked the game-tying and game-winning field goals in Friday night's 33-30 win over Acadia, from 46 and 41 yards out, respectively.

The game-winning kick came with only two seconds left on the clock, not long after his field goal that tied the game with 44 seconds left to play.

Burnham also booted two field goals in the first half from 47 and 39 yards.

He had two punts for 70 yards and six kickoffs for 377 yards, averaging 56.2 yards per kick. He currently leads the AUS in punting average at 40.8 yards per punt.
