Week 5 AUS Football Players of the Week: Scott, Fermin and Julien-Grant honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Saint Mary's Huskies quarterback Kaleb Scott, StFX X-Men defensive back Nathaniel Fermin and StFX receiver Kaion Julien-Grant have been selected as the Week 5 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Kaleb Scott
University: Saint Mary's University

Saint Mary's Huskies quarterback Kaleb Scott is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2017.

A third-year arts student from Mount Albert, Ont., Scott went 21 for 41 for 356 yards passing and a touchdown in the Huskies' 27-26 come-from-behind victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday in Sackville, N.B.

He also had 14 carries for 154 yards in the win.

Scott is currently leading the AUS conference and sitting second in the country in passing yards per game, averaging 346.5. He is also ranked second in AUS rushing, averaging 106.5 yards per game.

St. Francis Xavier X-Men defensive back Nathaniel Fermin has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A fourth-year arts student from Pickering, Ont., Fermin had 9.0 tackles (eight solo and two assisted) in StFX's 37-27 win over the Bishop's Gaiters Saturday in Lennoxville, Que.

He also had a pass break up in the win.

Fermin currently leads the X-Men in tackles per game, averaging 6.3.


Special Teams Player of the Week

Height and weight: 6'2", 197 lbs

St. Francis Xavier X-Men receiver Kaion Julien-Grant is the Atlantic University Sport football special teams player of the week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2017.

A third-year human kinetics student in his second year of eligibility from Toronto, Julien-Grant had 10 punt returns for 188 yards in the X-Men's 37-27 win over Bishops on Saturday.

In the fourth quarter, he returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown—his third of the day as he also had two receiving touchdowns.

Julien-Grant had 312 all-purpose yards in the game, bringing him to 798 yards on the season, good for tops in the AUS and third in the country, as is his 199.5 all-purpose yards per game average.
