Week 4 AUS Football Players of the Week: Millings, Smith and Dubé honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Bishop's Gaiters running back Trey Millings and kicker Vincent Dubé, along with Saint Mary's Huskies defensive back DeAndre Smith, have been selected as the Week 4 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Trey Millings
University: Bishop's University
Position: Running Back
Hometown: Laval, Que.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Business
Height and weight: 6'0", 217 lbs

Bishop's Gaiters running back Trey Millings is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Sept. 17, 2017.

A third-year business student from Laval, Que., Millings led the Gaiters on the ground, amassing 138 yards on 19 carries, including two touchdowns in Bishop's 32-31 come-from-behind victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Friday night in Sackville, N.B.

His first, a one-yard plunge, came on the last play of regulation to help force overtime. Millings' second major of the night came in the first overtime series to give Bishop's the advantage.

Millings also had three receptions for 49 yards. The win marked the Gaiters' first as an AUS conference member.

Height and weight: 6'3", 195lbs 

Saint Mary's Huskies defensive back DeAndre Smith has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A second-year arts student from Dunn, North Carolina, Smith was named Subway Player of the Game in Friday's 17-10 Saint Mary's win over Acadia in Halifax.

He had a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown, along with nine tackles (eight solo and two assisted) for the Huskies' defence.

He also had two pass breakups in the win.


Special Teams Player of the Week

Name: Vincent Dubé
University: Bishop's University
Position: Kicker
Hometown: Montmagny, Que.
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: BA Sociology
Height and weight: 6'1", 200 lbs

Bishop's Gaiters kicker Vincent Dubé is the Atlantic University Sport football special teams player of the week for the week ending Sept. 17, 2017.

A fourth-year sociology student from Montmagny, Que., Dubé scored a 41-yard field goal and was 4/4 in extra-point kicks in Bishop's 32-31 win over Mount Allison Friday in double overtime.

On the last play in regulation, he made good on the point-after attempt to tie the game and send it to overtime. He then made good on his extra-point attempt in the first overtime.

In the second overtime, Dubé added a rouge off a missed field goal attempt, which would ultimately be the Gaiters' game-winning point.

He also averaged 39.0 yards on eight punts, including a longest of 55 yards and one downed inside the 20-yard line.
