Week 10 AUS Football Players of the Week: Ridley, Bell and Heidebrecht honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Receiver Christian Ridley, defensive back Dylan Bell and kicker Jonathan Heidebrecht of the StFX X-Men have been selected as the Week 10 AUS players of the week for their performances this past weekend.

Receiver Christian Ridley of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Nov. 13, 2016.

A fourth-year bachelor of education student from Dubai, U.A.E., Ridley was named the championship MVP following the Subway AUS Loney Bowl on Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.

Ridley scored two touchdowns as the X-Men defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 29-8 to advance to this year's Mitchell Bowl being hosted by the Calgary Dinos. He had three total receptions in the win for 48 yards.

Ridley was also honoured as an AUS conference all-star at Friday night's awards banquet.

Defensive back Dylan Bell of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport football defensive player of the week.

A third-year human kinetics student from Brockville, Ont., Bell had 7.5 tackles (five solo and five assisted) in StFX's 28-9 win over Mount Allison in the Subway AUS Loney Bowl.

He also had two pass break ups in the win.

Position: Kicker
Hometown: Camrose, Alta.
Year of eligibility: Second
Academic program: BBA
Height and weight: 5'10", 150lbs

StFX kicker Jonathan Heidebrecht has been named the AUS football special teams player of the week.

A second-year business student from Camrose, Alta., Heidebrecht scored 11 points StFX's Subway AUS Loney Bowl win Saturday. He made good on all three field goal attempts—from 48, 17 and 12 yards—and both point-after attempts.

Heidebrecht was also honoured as an AUS conference all-star at Friday night's football awards banquet.
