Week 9 AUS Football Players of the Week: Reid, Sampson and Yorke honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Running back Chris Reid, defensive back Devante Sampson and punt returner Idahosa Yorke, all of the Mount Allison Mounties, have been selected as the Week 9 AUS players of the week for their performances this past weekend.

Running back Chris Reid of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Nov. 6, 2016.

A third-year business student from Brampton, Ont., Reid had 34 carries for 209 yards rushing and a touchdown in Mount Allison's 27-18 victory over Acadia Saturday in the Subway AUS Football Semifinal.

Reid was named the Subway Player of the Game for his efforts. With the win, the Mounties advance to this weekend's Subway AUS Loney Bowl versus StFX in Antigonish, N.S.

Defensive back Devante Sampson of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport football defensive player of the week.

A fourth-year sociology student from Mississauga, Ont., Sampson had eight solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the Mounties' 28-17 victory over Acadia Saturday. Sampson also had a pass break up in the win.

Mount Allison kick returner Idahosa Yorke has been named the AUS football special teams player of the week.

Yorke, a second-year history student from Bowmanville, Ont., returned seven punts for 67 total yards—the longest for 26 yards—in Mount Allison's 28-17 semifinal victory over the Acadia Axemen Saturday.

With the win, the Mounties now advance to their record fourth-consecutive Subway AUS Loney Bowl appearance this coming weekend versus StFX.
