Week 4 AUS Football Players of the Week: Cook, Switzer and Lambert honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Quarterback Tivon Cook of the StFX X-Men, defensive lineman Brady Switzer of the Acadia Axemen and kicker Ryan Lambert of the Mount Allison Mounties have been selected as the Week 4 AUS players of the week for their performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week

University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Quarterback
Hometown: Scarborough, Ont. 
Year of eligibility: Fifth
Academic program: BA 
Height and weight: 5'9", 205lbs

Quarterback Tivon Cook of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 4, 2016.

A fifth-year arts student from Scarborough, Ont., Cook threw five touchdown passes in the X-Men's 37-17 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.

Cook completed 19 of 33 attempts for 305 total passing yards. He currently leads the AUS in passing, with 1,228 yards and an average of 307.0 yards per game.

Defensive lineman Brady Switzer of the Acadia Axemen is the Atlantic University Sport football defensive player of the week.

A fourth-year business student in his third year of eligibility from Oakville, Ont., Switzer had three quarterback sacks for a loss of 13 total yards in Acadia's 20-12 loss to Mount Allison on Saturday.

Switzer also had 5.5 total tackles in the game—four solo and three assisted.  


Special Teams Player of the Week

University: Mount Allison Mounties
Position: Kicker
Hometown: Grimsby, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BA Environmental Studies
Height and weight: 5'9", 180lbs

Kicker Ryan Lambert of the Mount Allison Mounties has been named the AUS football special teams player of the week.

A fourth-year environmental studies student in his third year of eligibility from Grimsby, Ont., Lambert was successful on two of three field goal attempts and both point-after attempts in Mount Allison's 20-12 win over Acadia Saturday.

His stats also included a punting average of 37.1 yards on 11 punts, one of which was downed inside the 20-yard line. He also averaged 61.5 yards on four kickoffs.
