(TRURO, N.S.) - The round robin portion of the 2017 Subway AUS Curling Championships wrapped up Saturday at the Truro Curling Club in Truro, N.S.

Four women’s teams and four men’s teams will advance to Sunday’s semifinals. Seven women’s teams and seven men’s teams from across Atlantic Canada entered the competition, looking for a shot at claiming an AUS banner.

On the men’s side, the Memorial Sea-Hawks, skipped by Adam Boland, completed the round robin schedule with a perfect 6-0 record, including three wins in Saturday’s action.

Dalhousie’s Robert Mayhew finished second with a 5-1 mark, with his only loss coming to Memorial.

UPEI, UNB and Saint Mary’s all wrapped up round robin play in a three-way tie for third with identical 3-3 records.

The three teams had 1-1 records in head-to-head play, so with only two remaining playoff spots available, Saint Mary’s was eliminated based on having the worst accumulated LSD (Last Stone Draw) distance.

Sunday’s men’s semifinals will see Memorial (6-0) take on UPEI (3-3), while the Dalhousie Tigers (5-1) will face the UNB Varsity Reds (3-3)

On the women’s side, StFX’s squad skipped by Emma Logan ended round robin play with a 5-1 record to sit in first place. Their only loss came Friday evening to UPEI’s Sabrina Smith in an extra end.

The Dalhousie Tigers (4-2), led by skip Kristin Clarke, finished in a tie for second place with the Mount Allison Mounties (4-2).

The Tigers defeated the Mounties 7-5 in round robin play and the two teams will face each other once again in one of Sunday’s semifinal match-ups.

The UNB Varsity Reds (3-3) grabbed the final playoff spot over the UPEI Panthers (3-3), thanks to their 8-3 win over the Panthers in Thursday’s opening draw. Justine Comeau and her V-Reds rink will play the Tigers in Sunday’s second semifinal.

The 2017 Subway AUS curling championship resumes Sunday morning at 9:00am with four semifinal games.
