Beaulac lifts Aigles Bleus to a 3-2 win over X-Men

MONCTON – A power play goal by Victor Beaulac (Alexandre Bernier, Vincent Deslauriers), at 6:21 of the third period broke a 2-2 tie game and lifted the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (2-1-0) to a 3-2 win over the StFX X-Men (0-1-2) Friday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Subway player of the game, Marc-Anthony Therrien (Bernier, Beaulac), scored Moncton's two first goals. The Blue and Gold relinquished a goal to StFX's Adam Stevens (unassisted) and shorthanded midway in the first period following a failed attempt to get out from behind the net.

Sam Studnicka scored the second goal for the visiting X-Men in the second period.

Moncton lead in shots on goal for the first time this season, 32-28. Alexi Thibaudeau registered the win and Chase Marchand, the loss. Moncton was 1 for 3 on the power play and StFX, 0 for 4.

It was Moncton's first win at home since December 1, 2017.

The Blue and Gold will travel to Charlottetown, Wednesday for an encounter with the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers.

The X-Men, still in search of their first win of the season, will also be in action on Wednesday as they host Acadia.
