Axemen move into first place with win over Sea-Hawks

(St. John's, NL) – The Acadia Axemen moved into first place in the AUS with a 3-0 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Friday night at King George V Soccer Pitch.  The Sea-Hawks were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.     

The Axemen would strike early with a goal coming in the 1st minute off the foot of Andrew Snyder.  The early scoring didn't stop there as Acadia would add another goal in the 6th minute from Tylor Connolly.  The Axemen would go into the half with a 2-0 advantage and outshot the Sea-Hawks 6-1.

Memorial came out with a better effort in the second half, but could not get one past Acadia keeper Nigel Goodwin.  Goodwin finished the match with 2 saves to record the clean sheet.

Spencer Buck would add another Acadia goal in the 81st minute to make the final score 3-0.

The teams are back in action tomorrow at 3:15pm at King George V Soccer Pitch.  The Axemen will look to secure the first overall seed in the AUS going into next weekend's playoffs.
