Sea-Hawks fly past Huskies at home

The second half of the season didn't start out as planned for SMU, as they lost the first of two against the Sea-Hawks Saturday night in what turned out to be a big win for the first place Sea-Hawks.

Brian Rouse, despite the loss, looked unguardable in stretches for the Huskies, leading his team in points with a very efficient 8 of 14 shooting line for 26 points, to go with 5 boards and 4 assistsDespite the big night from Rouse, the Sea-Hawks were able to ride some really strong team play to a victory. They doubled the Huskies in assists, 19 to 9, really working the ball around well.

The game was very much in doubt coming into the second half, a 43-42 lead for the Sea-Hawks, but things shifted in the 3rd quarter. The Sea-Hawks went on a big run, and lead 71-57 coming into the fourth where they never looked back.

Curcic was his usual dominant self on both ends of the floor for Memorial. He lead the team in scoring with 25 points, and contributed 3 blocks on the defensive end. Daniel Gordon also had a big game for the home side, going 5 of 11 from 3 on his way to a 20-point night.

One stat that really jumps out from this game was the disparity in points in the paint. The Huskies were outscored 38-24 inside tonight, and that wound up being the difference in the end.

These two teams are back at it again tomorrow at 2:00 PM, you can watch it live on AUStv.ca.
