Aigles Bleus push win streak to six with victory over Acadia

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (6-2-0-0) picked up a 4-1 win over the Acadia Axemen (2-5-0-1) on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game in front of more than 640 spectators at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

It was their sixth straight win of the season, having lost their first two games of the campaign. Jeremy Lapointe at 15:29 in the first period, Edouard St-Laurent on the power play at 16:20 in the second and Alexandre Couture at 4:35 and Nathaël Roy, the latter into an empty net late in the game at 19:45 in the third, found the back of the net for the winners. Zack Jones was the only one to get the puck past goaltender Olivier Adam on 25 (5-12-8) shots. Brayden Peters made 29 (10-12-7) shots in the loss. Jacob Dion added two assists. Moncton was 1-for-1 on the power play and Acadia was 0-for-4.

Players from both teams battled for possession of the puck. The game was fast from one end of the ice to the other and the goalies made several key saves. The three stars of the game were Edouard St-Laurent, Jacob Dion and Alexandre Couture.

The Aigles Bleus will host the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena and visit the UNB Reds on Friday night in Fredericton. Acadia will host the STFX X-Men on Friday.
