Cox leads Axemen offence in sweep of Capers

WOLFVILLE – In similar fashion to the opening game of the weekend, the Acadia Axemen led from the get-go as they defeated the Cape Breton Capers 98-74 on Saturday night in front of over 600 fans.

Glen Cox (Scotsburn, NS) led all scorers with 36 points, shooting 14-for-27 from the field, 3-for-7 from three and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.

Miguel Boskovic (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) had a bounce-back game for the Axemen, dropping 15, while Ryan Monro (Timberlea, NS) had an impressive 17 points.

On both sides of the ball, Thomas MacDonald (Rothesay, NB) had the best night across both teams as he finished with the only double-double, scoring 10 points with 16 boards.

Shakael Pryce (Pickering, ON) and Stefan Anisko (Mississauga, ON) each scored 20 points to lead Cape Breton's offence in the loss.

As a team, Acadia shot 50 per cent from the field compared to 37 per cent for the Capers, the larger gap coming from three-point range as the Axemen shot 42.9 per cent and Cape Breton shot 26.7 per cent.

Next weekend the Axemen host the Memorial Sea-Hawks for a pair of games, while Cape Breton hosts the UNB Reds for a single game in Sydney. All games can be watched live on www.austv.ca.
