Gadoury gets the hat trick in 6-3 win over Panthers

(Halifax, NS) On Friday, November 20, the Dalhousie Tigers and the UPEI Panthers hit the ice at the Halifax Forum for some regular season action with 175 supporters in attendance.  The final score for the game was 6-3 for Dalhousie over UPEI.

The first period held non-stop action. The Dalhousie Tigers scored the first goal of the game 8 minutes in with a goal from Tanner Williams (Iroquois, ON). The assist came from Myles McGurty (Hoboken, New Jersey) and Matt English (Dartmouth, NS).

The Panthers tied up the score with a power play goal finished by Brock Beukeboom (Port Penny, ON), assisted by Sam Aulie (Lumsden, SK) and Nick Parker (Windsor, ON) at the 12 minute mark.

Dalhousie responded immediately and took back their lead with a goal by Felix Page (Montreal, QC). Assist made by Williams. Leading up to the goal, the Tigers were working the puck around the Panthers with some great handling and passes before they made the finish for their second goal of the game.

The Tigers didn't let up. Jessie Lussier (Ottawa, ON) and Page got the puck to Phil Gadoury who finished the third goal for Dalhousie. Seconds after the puck dropped from the Tigers' 3rd goal, JP Harvey (Cole Harbour, NS) brought Dalhousie to a three point lead with an unassisted goal at 15:03.

There was a minute left in the first period and the Panthers finished up with a second goal for the team made by Ryan MacKinnon (Summerside, PE). Nelson Armstrong (Peterborough, ON) and Darcy Ashley (Brooklyn,  PE) helped with the assist.

Dalhousie held a two point lead at the end of the first period with a score of 4-2 over the Panthers.

Five minutes into the second period, Page and Andrew Rieder (Regina, SK) got the puck to Gadoury who scored his second goal of the game and fifth goal for Dalhousie.

UPEI responded immediately. Guillaume Rioux-Legault (Beloeil, QC) scored a third goal for the Panthers from an assist made by Chad Labelle (Calgary, AB) and Aulie.

Dalhousie was playing down a man for a stretch of the second period, but when the numbers evened up, the Tigers came back in full force and scored another goal almost immediately. Jessie Lussier made the assist to Gadoury for the hat trick.

Dalhousie kept their lead over the Panthers, leaving the score at 6-3 before starting the third period.

The third period remained scoreless.

Dalhousie finished with a 6-3 win over UPEI. Subway player of the game for the Tigers was Phil Gadoury. Dalhousie (4-6-2) has their next game on Saturday, November 21st at 7pm in the Halifax Forum against the UNB Varsity Reds (8-2-2). UPEI (5-6-1) plays again on November 21st against StFX (9-1-2).
