Sea-Hawks swept by Axemen

(St. John's, NL) – The Acadia Axemen locked up first place in the AUS on Saturday after defeating the Sea-Hawks 2-0 in men's soccer action from St. John's, NL.

The Axemen struck early in the game with a goal from Travis Fenning in the 9th minute.  Memorial responded well, but could not get one passed Acadia keeper Nigel Goodwin.  The score remained 1-0 going into the half, with Acadia outshooting Memorial 4-2.

Early into the second half Travis Fenning would strike again for the Axemen pushing their lead to 2-0.  The Sea-Hawks continue to put pressure on the Axemen throughout the second half, but could not find a way to beat Goodwin.

The loss gives the Sea-Hawks a 3-7-2 overall record on the season and a 7th place overall finish.  Acadia now moves into the semifinal of the AUS Men's Soccer Championship next weekend taking place in Fredericton, NB.

Ryan Rhodenizer was named Subway player of the game from Acadia.
