Tigers grab big win on the road

Charlottetown, PE – The Dalhousie Tigers won their biggest game of the season defeating the UPEI Panthers 3-2 in AUS Women's Hockey action before 141 fans at MacLauchlan Arena. The win gives the Tigers a playoff position.

Panther captain Sam Sweet opened the scoring 49 seconds into the game to give her team the early lead.

It wasn't until 13:24 of the second that Tigers Player of the Game Laura Brooks tied things up with assists going to Victoria MacIntosh and Kayla Ogilvie. The Tigers Courtney Sheedy scored unassisted shorthanded a few minutes later at 11:49 to give her team 2-1 lead. The Panthers Ashtyn Bartlett tied the score at 5:15 with helpers going to Emma Martin and Laura Bradley.

The teams played exciting end to end hockey but it would be the Tigers Brooks scoring the game winner with her second of the game assisted by Kenzie MacPhee and Bianca Canade.

Jessica Severeyns made 21 saves for the win, while Marie-Soliel Deschenes turned aside 20 shots in the loss.

The Tigers next game is Thursday when they host StFX at the Halifax Forum, Puck drop is 7:30 pm.

The Panthers return to action Saturday afternoon when they host StFX, game time 3:00 pm.
