ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Memorial Sea-Hawks fell short after a tough battle against the STFX X-Women. The game came to an end with a final score of 71-60 for STFX as the X-Women earned their first regular season win.

The Sea-Hawks Alana Short opened up the game with a swift layup into the net. Katie Upham for the X-Women quickly retaliated with a two-point jump shot to put her team on the board. The X-Women struggled to find their momentum throughout the first few minutes of the quarter allowing the Sea-Hawks to take the lead.

However STFX began maintaining possession and finding the back of the net, specifically with Mali Straker capturing a three-pointer during the later end of the quarter bringing them to a 15-10 lead by the end of the first.

The X-Women were playing a strong deep zone forcing the Sea-Hawks to shoot for 3s, allowing Green to capture another pair from beyond the three-point arc. Nearing the end of the third quarter, STFX's McNeil was fouled by Claire Hickman, and she was able to hit both shots allowing X to extend their lead. Jenkins then hit two successful free throws for Memorial to tie the game. However, STFX found the net one last time, ending the quarter leading 55-53.
