(Halifax, N.S.) – Two goals from forward Kara Power (New Glasgow, NS) made the difference on Sunday evening at the Halifax Civic Centre as the StFX X-Women (14-8-0) topped the Dalhousie Tigers (7-15-1) 2-0.

The first period was a back-and-forth affair, with the X-Women cracking the scoreboard at 11:21 with the eventual game winner, courtesy of Power, who recorded a total of five shots in the period.

StFX had a chance to increase their lead in the final four minutes of play, tallying seven shots, however Dalhousie goaltender Mati Barrett (Stittsville, ON) stood her ground.

The X-Women continued to pepper Barrett with shots, recording 24 in the final two periods, compared to just five for Dalhousie.

Barrett played admirably, stopping 40 shots on the evening, with the only other goal coming from Power yet again – this time on the powerplay in the final minute of the second period.

Forwad Lisa Maclean (Inverness, NS) led all Tigers players with three shots, but was unable to beat X-Women goaltender Ariana Orasanin (Ancaster, ON), who finished the contest with a 15-save shutout.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday on the road. Dalhousie will take on Mount Allison while the X-Women will battle Saint Mary's.
