Iseyemi leads Axewomen past Panthers

WOLFVILLE – Elizabeth Iseyemi (Dartmouth, NS), the nation's leading scorer, continued her success on Friday night as she led Acadia past the UPEI Panthers 81-53 on Stu Aberdeen Court.

She finished the night with 33 points and 15 rebounds, improving her points per game total to 22.3, which continues to lead U SPORTS. With her rebounds she moved into sixth in the nation with an average of 10.6.

The victory also proved significant for Acadia as it clinches a spot at the AUS basketball championship in Halifax this February 23-25.

Lisa Bolander (Uppsala, Sweden) was the only other Acadia player in double-digit scoring as she finished with 10 points.

Off the bench, Taya Dixon (Halifax, NS) had a season-high seven points.

For UPEI, Sydney Lawlor (Millcove, PE) had 11 points to lead the Panthers scoring. Devon Lawlor (Millcove, PE) led all starters with nine points.

Saturday afternoon UPEI (7-8) is back in action as they travel to Halifax to face the Saint Mary's Huskies (11-3). Tip-off is 6 p.m. Acadia (11-4) is back in action on Wednesday night at StFX (6-9) before returning home to host the UNB Reds (12-2) on Saturday night.
