Huskies over visiting X-Women 68-43

(HALIFAX, NS)—The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the visiting StFX X-Women 68-43 on Wednesday night in Atlantic university sport women's basketball action from the Homburg Centre.

SMU guard Jasmine Cain (Halifax, NS) scored 19 points to lead all scorers on the night and was named the Subway Player of the Game.

The Huskies outscored the X-Women 12-9 after 10 minutes and used a 22-7 second quarter frame and took a 34-16 halftime lead.

A 18-13 third quarter score saw SMU lead 52-29 after thirty minutes.

Saint Mary's held a slim 16-14 final frame advantage and took the victory 68-43.

Holly Scott (Antigonish, NS) paced StFX with 10 points while Samantha Minicucci (Mississauga, Ont.) added eight and Kimberly Kingsbury (Nepean, Ont.) had six as StFX falls to 0-11 on the year.

Shanieka Wood (Ajax, Ont.) chipped in a double-double for SMU with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Kendra MacKinnon (Pictou, NS) had 11 points in 12 minutes off the bench.

StFX visits the 6-5 Cape Breton University Capers January 20th.

Saint Mary's improves to 7-4 on the year and hit the road for two games in versus the 6-5 UNB Varsity Reds January 26th-27th.
