Bujold nets hat trick as X-Women take road win over Mounties

Sackville, NB – The St. Francis Xavier X-Women got back their winning ways after two consecutive losses to open the second half of the AUS season after they defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 4-1 at the Tantramar Veterans' Memorial Civic Centre Saturday night.

Sarah Bujold (Riverview, NB) of the X-Women was a one-woman wrecking crew, scoring a hat-trick with a goal in each period for the Xavierian squad. Kara Power (New Glasgow, NS) added a short-hander in the third frame.

Jennifer Bell (Miramichi, NB) scored the Mounties' lone marker on the powerplay in the first.

The teams were tied at 1-1 after one period and StFX led 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Ariana Orasanin (Ancaster, ON) of X was the winning goaltender saving 14 of 15 shots. Lindsay Wray (Courtice, ON) was tagged with the loss for the Mounties but turned back 37 of 41.

The X-Women improve to 9-7 with the win for fourth place in the AUS conference, while the Mounties stand at 3-13-1 for a share of sixth.

The Mounties see action next on Sunday at 3:30 pm in Halifax when they take on the Dalhousie Tigers at the Halifax Forum. The X-Women will play Wednesday night, January 18th against Saint Mary's in a 7:00 pm game at SMU's Alumni Arena in Halifax.
