Varsity Reds Find Scoring Touch Versus Hawks

(St. John's, NL) – The UNB Varsity Reds scored early and often on Saturday afternoon from King George Vth Soccer Pitch in AUS men's soccer.  UNB tallied 5 first half goals with Evan Barker and Kristian D'Amore securing the clean sheet for the visitors.

Dan Walker scored in the 12th minute mark of the first half and the Varsity Reds never looked back.  Walker would add another goal in the 18th minute and completed the hat trick in the 26th minute.  Matt Quigely (25") and Marcus Lees (31") also added markers for the Varsity Reds.

Sea-Hawks rookie Darcy Bennett relieved Braedan Sheppard in net at half time, which was the first game action of his AUS career.  He recorded 1 save on UNB's 3 second half shots.

Dan Walker was named Subway Player of the Game from the Sea-Hawks.

The win drops the Sea-Hawks record to 3-4-0 on the season, while UNB improves to 2-2-2.  UNB came into the game with only 3 total goals on the season, but were able to notch 5 in impressive fashion.

The Hawks will look to rebound tomorrow as the teams are back on the pitch at 2:15pm NST.  The game is also available on AUStv.ca.
