Sea-Hawks Complete the Sweep

(St. John's, NL) The Memorial Sea-Hawks completed a three-game sweep of the Moncton Aigles Bleus (21-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-20) on Sunday afternoon at The Field House. 

Moncton jumped out to an early 1st set lead, but Memorial answered back and the teams would go on to exchange points into the technical timeout with the Sea-Hawks leading 16-15.  Memorial looked to be in control at 21-19, but the Aigles Bleus battled back and scored six straight points to take the first set 25-21.

The Sea-Hawks did well to refocus and jumped out to a 16-9 lead, before eventually taking the 2nd set 25-21. The momentum would carry over into the next set as the Sea-Hawks took control of the match by winning 25-14.

Moncton fought hard in the 4th set, but it would be enough as Memorial was able to complete the sweep with a 25-20 4th set margin.

The Sea-Hawks spread the wealth on the offensive end with three players recording double digit kills.  Kier Fey was the leader with 15, while Sarah Dawe registered 14, and Emma Hackett would finish with 11.

Alison Poynter registered a season-high 50 assists in the win.

Emilie Landry supplied another strong performance for the Aigles Bleus in the loss.  She finished the match with 11 kills, 2 blocks, and 12 points. Christelle Bertin was another top performer for Moncton, providing 10 kills, 14 digs, and 10.5 points.

The Subway Player of the Game was Emma Hackett from the Sea-Hawks.
