Rowe scores twice as Capers top Axewomen in battle of nationally ranked programs

WOLFVILLE – Alliyah Rowe scored twice for Cape Breton (4-1-0) as the Capers topped the Acadia Axewomen (4-1-1) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Rowe scored the opening and eventual game-winning goal in the 14th minute of the match. She then assisted on the second goal in the 24th minute by Lauren Rowe to give Cape Breton a 2-0 lead at half. Her second goal came in the 57th minute.

Milena Ramirez made four saves in the loss for Acadia, while Ellie Lancaster made five saves for CBU in the victory.

Cape Breton entered the match ranked No. 9 in the country, while Acadia was ranked No. 8 by U SPORTS.

The Capers now face Saint Mary's on Sunday afternoon, while Acadia hosts the No. 7 ranked STFX X-Women.
