Duffy gets a hat trick in Huskies 8-0 win over UdeM

MONCTON – Ben Duffy scored a hat trick and former Dieppe Commandos goaltender, Marc Terriault, made 27 saves to lead Saint Mary's University Huskies (10-6-2=22pts, 4th place) to a 8-0 shutout of Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (7-9-2=16pts, 6th place), Friday evening in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in front of over 700 spectators.

The Serge Bourgeois coached team will host the Acadia University Axemen (15-2-1=31pts, 1st place), Saturday, at 4 p.m.

Stephen Shipley, Stephen Johnston, Bradley Greene, Stephen MacAulay and Steven Beyers had the other goals against goaltender Brandon Thibeau, who had 39 shots. The visitors led 1-0 after 20 minutes and 4-0, after 40.

The Aigles Bleus changing room was quiet after the game. "We need to look at tonight's game video and try to figure out what happened," stated team captain Alex Emond. "It is very disappointing to lose like this in our own nest. It is sad. We seem to have our sticks in our legs, we cannot score; we only have one goal in three games. I do not know what's happening. We need to play as a team and not as individuals. When we play individually, that is what happens. We will hold a meeting Saturday morning and refocus after sleeping on this game. Saturday's game against Acadia will be different, it will be intense for 60 minutes."

Coach Serge Bourgeois had his head down in his office after the game. "We were not a good team tonight," he said. "The bounces were not in our favour. We lost our confidence. We have to find a way to play better, nobody will take pity on us. We will look for the positive and win on Saturday. We did begin the game all right, but errors cost us goals. For Saturday, we will have to bring modifications and trio changes. The players need to look themselves in the mirror. Some of them are not wearing their pants well. We will decide on the trios tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. "
