(Halifax, NS) – In Sunday afternoon action, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the Memorial Sea-Hawks at Wickwire field. It took over 80 minutes, but the first goal was enough to seal the victory for the Tigers 1-0.

The Tigers were forcing the envelope early in the match, getting the ball deep and being rewarded with corner opportunities.

The Sea-Hawks played a game of long runs for striker Fomba Fambulleh (St. John's, NL) who was exceptional at creating space with his body.

Threatening chances were few in the first half, with the best one coming from a great ball from the foot of Fambulleh through to Ifeanyi Okaliachu who took a swing, but Ben Grondin (Calgary, AB) was charging out to cut down the angle and was able to swallow it up.

The teams remained scoreless heading into the break.

The Tigers started the second half with a different energy, pushing up and creating chances right from the opening whistle.

Isaiah McCullough (Sackville, NS) sent in corner after corner for the Tigers, one of them finally connecting with the head of Alex Knesaurek (Toronto, ON), who redirected it just off the top of the bar.

Braedan Sheppard (St. John's, NL) got himself involved by making two key stops after the 80th minute. One on a great cross from Gracious Kasheke (Halifax, NS) to Enrico Rodriguez, (Halifax, NS) and the second on a quick shot from Kallen Heenan (Dartmouth, NS).

The Tigers were finally able to break the deadlock late in the match on a perfectly placed cross into the box from Heenan that was cleanly finished off by the head of Nyle MacLeod (Ottawa, ON).

The Tigers were able to hold on to the late lead and take the 1-0 win.

Kallen Heenan was named the Subway Player of the Game in this one.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday when they host Mount Allison, while Memorial will have a weekend home-stand against Cape Breton next weekend.
