Aigles Bleus defeat Huskies 6-2 in Moncton

The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (5-2-0-0=10pts, 2nd position) found the back of the net four times in the second period en route to a 6-2 win over the Saint Mary's University Huskies (3-4-0-0=6pts, 4th position) in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game on Friday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in front of nearly 700 spectators.

The Acadia University Axemen (2-4-0-1=5pts, 6th position), who lost 6-3 to the UNB Reds on Friday, will be the Aigles Bleus' opponents on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Rémy Anglehart (unassisted) hit a puck on the ice as he fell to score the home team's first goal at 4:49 of the opening period. The lead was short-lived when Ben Allison tied the game less than 3 minutes later, beating goaltender Olivier Adam with a high shot into the net.

The second period was the Aigles with four goals scored in the space of 4 minutes, including one shorthanded and the other on a penalty shot. Jeremy Lapointe at 3:22, William Basque a minute later, Nathaël Roy, the first star of the game, with his first of the game on a penalty shot at 6:15 and Edouard St-Laurent at 7:19 secured the victory for their team.

Reid Valade on the power play cut the margin to 5-3 at 11:05 of the third period, but Roy with his second at 17:08 restored his team's 4-goal lead.

Olivier Adam made 30 saves for the win in net, having been selected as the 2nd star. Matt Welsh played 32 minutes and allowed 5 goals for the losers. Jeremy Helvig completed the remaining 32 minutes with 6 saves and a goal. 

The Huskies scored once on 4 power play chances and Moncton 1-for-2. Saint Mary's visits the UNB Reds on Saturday. It's the weekend for the players' parents. They were introduced on the ice before the game. Moncton have won their last 5 games.
